Clinician at Be Well Now Centre, White Rock

I suppose if someone were to ask me where I came from I would have to reply: from all over the world. Having lived in various countries with very different ethnicities, not only benefited me with understanding cultural differences but also enabled me to communicate in several languages…which brings me to my point. The reason I value practicing as a naturopathic physician is the opportunity to connect with many people from a variety of backgrounds, each with their unique stories, leaving me in awe of the courage I see in everyone who comes into my office.

Why did I choose to be a naturopathic physician? My grandfather was the motivation. Besides encouraging me to learn how to wind surf in the windy waters of the canary islands, he showed me the healing powers of nature first hand when he cured himself with juice fasts and brought himself back to health from a near death experience at the age of 65. You will hear most graduates tell you a similar story- how watching someone – or even themselves- regain control of their health with complementary and alternative medicine sparked their interest in this field. You will also hear how most were on their way to conventional medicine when re-routed to the study of naturopathic medicine. Being in my second year of practice I can say that the 8 plus years of education were definitely worth it!

What aspects of practice do I enjoy most? Trying to find the cause of the imbalance and motivating my patients to keep on a treatment regimen and not give up prematurely. I am delighted everytime I have inspired another to do what it takes to feel good on all levels -mental, emotional and physical.
